With the smooth progress of the construction of the Agadez microgrid project in Niger, at the request of the owner Nigerian Electricity Company(NIGELEC), SINOSOAR conducted three training sessions for its employees from February 21 to March 10, which won the unanimous praise of the owner and the local government.
The project is located northeast of Niger, with east 3 sites deep in the Sahara desert and west 2 in the mountains. Access to the site is very difficult and the roads are all naturally formed dirt roads. A military gendarmerie escort is also required to ensure personal safety on the route. Because of the remote location of the 5 sites, supplies are scarce and access to communication is also very hard. The training team, led by Wang Zheng, Project Manager, carried forward the hard-working spirit of SINOSOAR, lived in tents, slept in the desert, ate instant noodles, went to several project sites and put into training with full working condition.
During the training, Mr. Wang Zheng firstly gave a brief introduction on the background of the project and the recent development of our international market, followed by a detailed lecture on the theoretical concept of microgrid, design specification, control operation, photovoltaic and energy storage subsystems by Mr. Luo Jun, the general engineer of the project, and Mr. Aldini, our local executive. The trainees of Niger Electric Power Company interacted with our trainees on some core technical issues with great interest. After each training session, the training team of SINOSOAR would carefully prepare for the examination and evaluation, consolidate the training knowledge, issue certificates to the trainees who have passed the evaluation and take a group photo. The careful and meticulous preparations were well received by the leaders of Nigerian Electricity Company(NIGELEC) and supervision companies.
When the last training was about to end, the district chief of Bilma District and the police chief rushed to the training site and had a cordial meeting with the training team of SINOSOAR. The head of the district first expressed a warm welcome to the team who came for training. He said that the construction site of Bilma is located in the depths of the desert, and there are often bandits and harassment along the way. Every international friend who visits Bilma is a true hero of the desert who has come to benefit the local people and truly improve their livelihoods. This time, the training team of SINOSAOR not only brought the professional knowledge of microgrid operation and maintenance, but also improved the access to electricity for thousands of local residents, allowing more people to enjoy green electricity. The project will also become a symbol of friendship between the people of China and Niger.
Project manager Wang Zheng said that SINOSAOR is committed to applying clean energy to every corner of the world, bringing light and hope to people in underdeveloped areas. This microgrid project in the deep Sahara desert is a great challenge for all companies in the industry, but SINOSOAR is a team full of hard-working spirit and has accumulated valuable and professional experience in the industry through many successful microgrid projects all over the world , we are confident and capable of overcoming all difficulties to build the project well, and look forward to working hand-in-hand with Niger to deepen cooperation in the field of microgrid and let clean energy light up the Sahara.
