Solar Home System Project
In this early winter, SINOSOAR Philippine Project Division congratulates another harvest in consortium with local partner after being awarded one more off-grid solar home system project in Mindanao, the Philippines.
The Philippines consists of more than 7,000 islands. The cost of electricity transmission and distribution is very difficult and expensive. In many remote areas of the country, people are lack of electricity or having no electricity for until today. Philippines has a population of over 100 million. However, there are about 1.8 million households across the country living without electricity. Most of the off-grid households are located in small islands of Visayas and far-flung mountainous villages of Mindanao. Because of the lagging power construction, most of these remote isolated islands rely on expensive and polluting diesel power generation to maintain limited power supply, and blackouts are very common everyday.
Since 2016, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte started to push for the “rural electrification strategy” ambitiously, and the objective is to fulfill the “total national electrification” within his presidency till 2022.
As the Philippines is located near to the equator where has abundant sunlight, it is very suitable for the country to make use of solar energy. This has inspired the Philippine authorities to invest more and more in the renewable energy sector with booming supporting policies for renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. As the decreasing of solar panel price as well as the decreasing of photovoltaic system, the Philippine government has focused on encouraging the use of photovoltaic power generation to solve the problem of electricity shortage.
This newly awarded solar home system project was organized by Philippine National Electrification Administration (NEA) this August, which aims to supply sustainable basic electricity to 3,100 far-flung off-grid households. The project will facilitate further for the government to achieve the “Total National Electrification” target. After the completion of this project, SINOSOAR will contribute renewable energy for 25,000 off-grid households nationwide in the Philippines. The project will extend and consolidate the leading role of SINOSOAR in the off-grid solar market of the Philippines.
According to the IEA’s report of World Energy Outlook 2021, the prices of natural gas, coal and electricity came to all-time highs in most of countries and regions by October 2021.
With the severe global energy situation, a new global energy economy is emerging. Renewable energy, such as wind and solar, continued to grow rapidly. The new energy economy will march toward to a trend of more electrified, more efficient, more inter-connected and much cleaner. We believe that in the near future, the new energy industry is bound to have new development and breakthrough under the favorable environment of the global market.
We will firmly follow our original intention and mission to move forward unremittingly. SINOSOAR–Power the world with hybrid energy.
